Bundesliga Matchday 16 Round Up - Podolski Gets Fourth Double Pack

Matchday 16 is in the books and FC Bayern has, once again, secured top spot in the Bundesliga.  With only one matchday to go before the winter break, Bayern has secured the Herbst Meisterschaft (Fall Champion) Their 2-1 win over VFB Stuttgart clinched the top spot.  Dortmund only managed a tie at home against Kaiserslauern, while Gladbach was defeated by newcomer Augsburg, which registered only its third victory of the season.    Gladbach was defeated by second half goal in Augsburg leaving the team one point behind the two league leaders.  Bremen convincingly defeated Wolfsburg moving into fifth place.

Schalke 04, after its 2-1 victory in Berlin has moved into spot 2, with a better goal for/against ratio than Borussia Dortmund.  Mainz and Hamburg shared a point after a scoreless draw in Mainz.  Hoffenheim with its win in Nuernberg has broken into the top ten of the league.  Lukas Podolski and Clemens, each with a double pack perfected a 4-0 win over SC Freiburg.  Freiburg is now bringing up the rear end of the Bundesliga.

Mainz and Koln met today to play catchup to matchday 13, a game that was cancelled due to the attempted suicide of a referee.   A late goal by Lukas Podolski saved a point for Koeln.
